Your Emotions Affect Your Physical Health - Luke 4:18

Jesus came to set us at liberty. He came to heal the brokenhearted and to preach deliverance to the captives.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised (Luke 4:18).

Physical illnesses are obvious to those who have them. What are not so obvious are emotional wounds. In order to be well, we have to understand the connection between our emotional and our physical health. Jesus was very aware of the connection. He knew the effect of guilt and shame not only on a person’s soul but also on his body. When someone who was sick came to Him, Jesus often said to him first, “Your sins are forgiven” and then told the lame to walk and the blind to see.

Jesus came to set us at liberty. He came to heal the brokenhearted and to preach deliverance to the captives. People who become ill often have an underlying anger, grief, shame, or fear. True healing cannot occur until these wounds are acknowledged and healed. Sometimes these hurts are buried very, very deeply because they are so painful.

These wounds didn’t come from God.

They have accumulated through strife, loss, and hurtful life experiences. As a result, many of us have a myriad of negative emotions that the destroyer encourages us to hold onto. Don’t keep struggling with your emotional scars. God has provided the solution and victory – deliverance through the authority of Luke 10:19. Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and to set at liberty those that are bruised. He wants you to be completely whole. He wants joy to reign in your heart.

He smiles at you with compassion and offers His hand of deliverance, freedom, and peace.
