His Love Will Quiet Your Fears - Romans 12:1 (KJV)

His Love Will Quiet Your Fears

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." Romans 12:1 (KJV)

Those who respond to God through fear will also be tormented with thoughts of doubt and condemnation as to whether they have done enough. Fear will move some toward God, but it is inferior to love.

There is nothing that fear can do that love can't do better and without the side effect of torment. But as 1John 4:18 states, "Fear hath torment."  Those who serve God out of fear serve God out of torment. Many people turn away from God, not because they don't believe He exists, but because they have been taught to serve God out of fear of punishment, and they are tormented. If they just knew the perfect love of God for them, in-spite of their sins, they would turn back to the Lord.

Those motivated to seek God because of fear if they didn’t will cease to be motivated when things are going well. They become the ones who only pray when they are in trouble. Those who come to God because of His goodness will see God as the source of their success and continue to serve God in the good and the bad times.

We need to renew our minds to line up with God's thinking. If we ever are afraid of the future, eternity, or God's judgment, we can remind ourselves of God's love. We know that he loves us perfectly (Romans 8:38-39). God tells us how great his love is so that we will feel totally secure in him. His love will quiet your fears and give you confidence.

It's wonderful that Paul was persuaded of this--I'm happy for him. But we must be persuaded of this to benefit from it.
